New Tax Information

Have you heard of Ontario’s new HST tax? We would like to take this opportunity to explain how the Ontario government’s new Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) will affect our clients who are considering a cosmetic procedure in the coming months. As announced in the 2009 Ontario Budget, the federal Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be combined with the Provincial Sales Tax (PST) to create a Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) for Ontario, effective July 1st, 2010. The provincial portion of the HST will be 8% and the federal portion will be 5%, for a combined HST rate of 13%.

What does this mean at McLean Clinic? Should you have your procedure performed prior to July 1st, 2010, the fee will not be affected by the HST. Currently, only the GST of 5% is applicable to all cosmetic procedures at our clinic. After July 1st, 2010, the HST rate of 13% will apply to all cosmetic services offered at McLean Clinic. Here is an example:

IMPORTANT EXCEPTION
When services that are performed on or after July 1st, 2010 are paid for IN FULL before May 1st, 2010, no HST will apply. Please note invoices must be paid in full prior to May 1st to qualify.
