Dr. Giancarlo McEvenue is a board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery at the McLean Clinic in Mississauga Ontario. He has special expertise in delivering natural and long-lasting results in breast augmentation, facial aesthetic surgery, abdominoplasty, high definition liposuction and sex reassignment surgery. Dr. McEvenue joined the McLean Clinic after having worked with Dr. McLean during his residency training at the University of Toronto and is the Director of Education and Research for the McLean clinic.
Dr. McEvenue came from a Canadian/Colombian background and grew up in Toronto, Canada. He attended the University of Toronto where he completed an undergraduate degree in Human Biology with Honours. Dr. McEvenue won numerous academic scholarships including the St. Michael’s College GPA award and the Institute of Medical Science scholarship for three consecutive years. He attended medical school at SABA University School of Medicine where he developed a passion for plastic surgery. After receiving top marks during medical school, Dr. McEvenue was offered a position at one of the world’s best Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery programs at the University of Toronto.
Dr. McEvenue has published numerous scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals on topics including hand surgery, burn surgery, sex reassignment surgery, and social media. His research has been presented at both the national and international level at meetings including The Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Dr. McEvenue has won several awards for his research including most recently “2017 Best Clinical Paper” in Plastic Surgery from the University of Toronto and “2017 Best Abstract” from the North American Refugee Health Conference.
Dr. McEvenue has a passion for helping others and volunteered for a surgical mission in aid of Syrian refugees living in Lebanon. He also participates in local charity events including: “Run for The Cure for Breast Cancer” and “Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day”. In memory of his late sister, Johanna, he founded “JoJo’s kids”, a charity that sends underprivileged children to summer camp.
Dr. McEvenue is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC). He is a member of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), The Ontario Medical Association (OMA). He is a candidate Member in the International Society of Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS), American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), and the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons (CSPS).
