5 Tips For Maintaining Your Cosmetic Surgery Results

Following a cosmetic surgery procedure you’ll need to take some time off to recover. Once that’s done, you’ll need to maintain the results. If you follow our five tips, you’ll have no trouble feeling and looking great after you undergo cosmetic surgery.

Tips For Maintaining Your Cosmetic Surgery Results

  1. Keep Your Habits Healthy

Excessive alcohol and tobacco consumption not only ruins your skin, it can destroy the effects of your surgery. Tobacco and alcohol mess with the body’s natural healing process, so it’s important that you remain smoke and alcohol free as you recover from your surgery.

  2. Don’t Neglect Your Skin

Medical grade skin care products are available to keep your skin in top shape. Many surgeons employ an esthetician at their clinic to ensure that their patients can take on better skin care routines following their surgeries. You can also undergo a non-surgical facelift (more on that later) to really give your skin a boost.

  3. Get Moving

Maintaining a healthy weight is important following a surgical procedure because if you gain weight, your skin will stretch and you’ll lose the beautiful contours you had post-surgery. It’s important to find a balance between cardio and strength training. You don’t have to start CrossFit, but make sure you are doing a combination of exercises that target the whole body, like running and lifting weights, or yoga and circuit training. As long as you’re exercising three to four times per week, you’ll not only feel great, you’ll maintain the results of your surgery, too.

  4. Eat Right

After your surgical procedure you may not have much of an appetite, which is completely normal. But, when you’re back on your feet, it’s important to eat right. That’s not to say that you can’t indulge once in a while, as long as you generally eat well. Stick with lean proteins, lots of fruits and vegetables, and whole grains, and drink lots of water. If you do not, you will have trouble maintaining the results of your surgery.

  5. Non-Surgical Tune-Ups Are Available

For many people, maintaining the results of their cosmetic surgery requires a little outside help. There are procedures available, such as laser skin treatments or a non-surgical facelift, that can be used to further enhance your results. For example, a non-surgical facelift will tighten up areas such as the jowls, and ensure that your skin is taut and youthful looking. When you couple a non-surgical procedure with traditional cosmetic surgery, your entire body benefits.

At McLean Clinic, we offer both non-surgical (non-surgical facelifts, dermal fillers, etc.) and surgical (breast enhancements/reductions, arm lifts, tummy tucks, etc.) procedures. Please contact us for more information.
