Brow Lift

If people tell you that you look sad, angry or tired even when you aren't, you may be a candidate for a brow lift. Brow Lift /Forehead Lift are names for a procedure that has several benefits.

Brows that have fallen or that are placed too low may be re-positioned at a more attractive level and this can relieve a sad or worried look.

If you have prominent frown lines between the brows that make you look angry or fierce, you can have it dealt with permanently during a brow lift which permanently weakens the muscles that cause the lines.

Botox is often used to achieve this effect temporarily but a forehead lift can make it permanent. Additionally, you may also look worried or tired because of lines across the forehead and these can be relieved to some extent by a forehead lift.

You may feel that you need to have treatment of your upper lids because of fullness in that area. In some cases a forehead lift is more appropriate or can be added to give you a more complete result.

A forehead lift can be carried out through a long incision hidden two inches or so behind your hairline, an incision just at the hairline for those with a high forehead, or sometimes from small incisions also hidden within the hair. The latter procedure involves the use of an endoscope for visualization. The incision required may depend to some extent on what problem you are having dealt with by the operation, and how much exposure the surgeon needs to control the result adequately.

Complications are infrequent, though sometimes the normal numbness and itching that often result from the procedure may be unusually prolonged or even permanent. Other possible complications that are usually temporary are minor hair loss or weakness of the muscles that wrinkle your forehead. Swelling and bruising would be gone within two weeks. You may use camouflage makeup almost right away. Do expect some numbness, and possibly itching of the scalp as the nerves heal.

You should have an accurate idea of how you will look within two weeks.
