What Breast Sensation Can I Expect After Augmentation Surgery?

If you are interested in having breast augmentation surgery in Toronto, you have most likely done a lot of research in preparation. You want to make sure you pick the right surgeon, understand the risks of the procedure, or how much downtime is required before you are back to your everyday life. You have also most likely wondered what breast sensations you can expect following your surgery.

Breast Sensation

How much will recovery hurt? Will I completely lose sensation in my nipples? Will I still be able to feel sexual pleasure? These are all questions that have probably crossed your mind at some point or another.

To help ease your worries, we will discuss what sensations you can most likely expect after your breast augmentation in Toronto.

What to Expect During Breast Augmentation Recovery

Like many other kinds of surgery, breast augmentation in Toronto is a significant procedure that requires downtime in order to properly heal. Your body will need time to recover, which will involve at least a couple of days of rest before going back to work or other low impact activities. You will likely be able to get back to work after a week.

More rigorous, higher impact activities like physical fitness can oftentimes be resumed six weeks post-surgery. However, before you start hitting the gym again, it is always recommended that you wait for the green light from your surgeon. They will request to see you after your procedure a couple of times in order to track your progress and how you are healing. Once you have gotten the go-ahead from your surgeon, you can attend as many kickboxing or yoga classes as your heart desires!

With every stage of recovery, you can expect to feel different sensations in your breasts, a few of which we have outlined below. Some of these are fairly common during the initial stages of recovery and will gradually dissipate as time goes on.

Feelings of Tightness & Swelling in Your Chest

In the weeks that follow your breast augmentation in Toronto, it is entirely normal to experience varying sensations in your breasts.

One of the most common sensation during recovery is a feeling of tightness and/or swelling in your chest. The reason for this is that the skin in your chest and the surrounding area has to adjust to the implants. It will take time for the skin, breast tissue, and muscle to adapt to the foreign material of your implants.

You may also notice some swelling or bruising, which is completely normal. It will generally peak roughly 3 to 5 days post-surgery, which can increase the feelings of tightness you have been experiencing. All of these symptoms should gradually subside within a couple of weeks, maybe even up to a month.

Breast Numbness or Loss of Feeling

It is actually pretty common to experience reduced feeling in your breasts, and even the nipples, in the first few days immediately after your surgery. In most patients, this sensation is completely temporary, however, it does have the possibility to last for as long as two years. It can even result in partial or complete permanent sensation loss in your nipples or lower breast tissue.

Nipple Sensation After Breast Augmentation

Like previously mentioned, it is possible to lose all sensation in your nipple permanently. This risk is as high as 15% of people who undergo breast augmentation nationwide.

If you believe that this potential outcome might make you regret your breast augmentation in Toronto, then the procedure most likely is not the right one for you. Of course, your surgeon will go over all potential side effects with you during appointments and consultations prior to your procedure, which can help you make informed decisions at every stage moving forward.

That being said, the opposite outcome is also likely. This means more amplified nipple sensation than before, which many people can find somewhat uncomfortable. It can also mean experiencing sharp pangs of pain in your nipples. However, this side effect is typically temporary in every case that it appears and will usually resolve itself within a few weeks of your procedure. If severe pain persists for more than three weeks you may want to consider seeing your doctor.

Sexual Satisfaction After Breast Augmentation

When it comes to breast augmentation surgery, it can do more than just transform your physical appearance. It can also completely change how you feel in your body. If your self-esteem is boosted and you are feeling more confident than ever before, you will likely experience increased sexual satisfaction. This is because, at the end of the day, you won’t be sexually satisfied because your breasts are any larger or smaller, the greatest feelings of sexual satisfaction will come from how you feel about your new body after breast augmentation in Toronto.

However, like any other form of physical activity, most forms of intimacy should be avoided for at least six weeks after your procedure. You will want to take the time to make sure your body is healing properly before participating in any form of strenuous physical activity.

Like previously mentioned, your surgeon will be able to answer any questions you might have regarding sensations you will feel after your breast augmentation in Toronto. While conducting your own research in order to prepare yourself on what to expect is always a good idea, they are always the best authority when it comes to finding answers.
