Permanently remove unwanted hair anywhere on your body using the latest in laser hair removal technology at McLean Clinic.
For many of us unwanted hair can be frustrating and embarrassing. Laser hair removal is an effective solution to the problems posed by shaving, tweezing, waxing and electrolysis. Hair removal systems have been available for years promising permanent results with little to no pain. Unfortunately, just as there are many temporary solutions for hair removal, finding a permanent, comfortable way to get rid of unwanted hair can be just as difficult.
At McLean Clinic we offer the latest innovation in laser hair removal technology – the LightSheer Duet with Vacuum Assist. The LightSheer Duet utilizes “Gold Standard” technology to provide faster, pain-free hair removal treatments. Large areas such as a man’s back or a woman’s full leg now takes only 20 to 30 minutes as opposed to 2 hours with more traditional systems. The LightSheer Duet emits a laser targeting the hair’s pigment stunting re-growth of the hair follicle. A special contact-cooling hand piece treats numerous hair follicles at once with no pain or downtime.
Traditionally you could only have laser hair removal if you had a fair complexion and coarse, dark hair. With the LightSheer Duet this is no longer true! The LightSheer Duet is available to most skin types. It is also designed to effectively and safely target a wide range of hair colours. If you’re tired of dealing with messy, temporary ways to get rid of your unwanted hair, laser hair removal is for you. For those of you who have tried laser hair removal and are unhappy with the painful and lengthy sessions, the LightSheer Duet is your best solution. Most areas of the body can be treated with laser hair removal including:
One of the most important factors when preparing for your laser hair removal is to ensure you have hair present in the treatment area. Please avoid waxing, threading, tweezing, or having electrolysis for at least 6 weeks before your first session. This will ensure your appointment provides you with results that are as successful as possible. If you wish to manage your hair before your appointment, we recommend trimming or shaving the area.
Avoid sun tanning for the safest, most effective treatment and ensure to wear a broad spectrum sunscreen and keep the area covered with clothing when you are outside. If you skin is tanned as a result of sun exposure or from tanning products, please wait until the tan completely fades away before undergoing your laser hair removal session.
Avoid using products with ingredients that can irritate the skin for at least 1 week before and after your session. This includes the use of acids (AHA’s, BHA’s), depilatory creams, retinol, retinoids, alcohol, etc. If you are unsure about what products are safe to use, please consult with our Skin Care Specialist here at McLean Clinic.
The LightSheer Duet laser works by absorbing the pigment in the hair follicle, pulsing quickly but long enough to heat up the hair and destroy the hair follicle’s ability to regrow. The device treats multiple hair follicles at the same time, which makes it an effective option for the quick and efficient treatment of large areas of the body.
A single laser session can take anywhere between just a few minutes to over an hour depending on the size of the treatment area. Many patients tolerate the pain associated with the procedure very well, but topical anaesthesia can be applied when treating sensitive areas of the body.
Unwanted hair can be permanently removed with the help of laser hair removal by specifically targeting and damaging the hair at the root. The laser itself is attracted to the pigment in the hair follicle and will destroy it on contact to stunt future growth.
A few weeks after your session, your hair will look like it is growing back but in actuality, the skin is pushing the hair stem up and out. These hairs will slide out very easily and with no pain or resistance. Once all these hairs have fallen out, you will experience a period with very little hair until the next hair growth phase begins, which is when you will need another session.
LightSheer Duet Laser Hair Removal is quick, comfortable and performed in the privacy of our Mississauga cosmetic clinic. Best treatment results are seen when hair is in its active growth phase. Because not all hair grows at the same pace, a series of 4 to 6 sessions is recommended for optimal reduction.
Improving your skin’s health can involve a variety of approaches. During your complimentary consultation, our Skin Care Specialist will design an individual skin rejuvenating program tailored to meet your specific needs and budget. Laser Hair Removal is most effective in a series of 4 to 6 treatments performed three to six weeks apart. Cost-effective packages are available. For the first 2 days following your session, the treatment area will feel and look like it’s sunburned. Soothing gels, such as Aloe Vera, can be applied to the skin. Avoid putting the area in any addition heat, and refrain from engaging in strenuous exercise, hot yoga, sauna, or hot tubs that have the potential to irritate the area.
Do not expose the treatment area to the sun for at least 4 days after your session. This can lead to burning, scarring, and other types of skin damage. Use broad spectrum sunscreen whenever possible and keep the area covered with clothing.
Side effects involved with laser hair removal are usually very minor. You may experience some swelling and redness around the treatment area and in the hair follicles, which indicates that the follicle has responded well to the treatment. Most of our patients have the ability to return to their normal activities immediately. There’s a common myth that laser hair removal does not work on certain hair colours. While it is true that laser hair removal for those with darker skin tones or those with red hair is a little more difficult, today’s cutting-edge laser hair removal systems have evolved to target previously difficult to remove hair colours.
