Shed unwanted body fat and achieve a toned and sculpted physique at McLean Clinic.
Are you tired of looking in the mirror and fixating on problem areas which you just can’t seem to fix with diet and exercise? Do you want to obtain the body you once flaunted on the beach a few years back? The McLean Clinic is here to help you realize your goals with the aid of CoolSculpting- a newly developed procedure out of Harvard University that utilizes cryolipolysis.
With a number of designations and critical acclaim, CoolSculpting has quickly made its way to the forefront of minimally invasive non-surgical fat reduction techniques. Ranked #1 by the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, awarded the New Beauty ‘Beauty Choice Award’ both 2013 and 2014, and with millions of procedures performed globally, the CoolSculpting procedure will transform your body contours to help you achieve the figure you desire with no surgery or downtime! Most often our patients will be ready to return to their usual hustle and bustle immediately following their procedure.
CoolSculpting is a process targeting fat cells in stubborn, problem areas such as the lower abdomen, or the ‘love handles’ and thighs. The technique utilizes the fact that fat cells are more responsive to temperature extremes than nerves, skin cells, muscle and other body tissues. By applying controlled cooling, localized fat deposits can be non-invasively reduced to reshape body contours. Target areas are cooled to nearly 4 degrees Celsius causing the crystallization and dissolution of subcutaneous fat tissue, leaving the tissue above unaffected. Employing this technique, stubborn fat deposits can be reduced leaving you feeling happy and looking fit!
The CoolSculpting fat reduction procedure is designated for candidates who are at or nearly at their ideal weight (typically within 30 lbs). Ideal candidates have stubborn fat deposits which can be pinched and pulled from the body
The suction of the CoolSculpting applicator can be quite strong, which is why we recommend avoiding the use of anti-inflammatory medication, such as Advil or aspirin, one week prior to your treatment date to avoid the risk of bruising after your session.
On the day of your session, we recommend to dress in loose-fitting clothing that allow for access to the areas being treated, which will increase your comfort levels during the procedure. Because the treatment can take a few hours to complete, you may want to bring a mobile device or tablet to entertain yourself during your session.
During your treatment, simply lie back, relax, even bring a book to read and allow our professionally trained and certified staff to apply cooling to the desired area. Since the procedure is completely non-surgical you will walk away feeling ready for all that life can throw at you!

The state of the art CoolSculpting technology will deliver precise cooling to target the fat cells under the surface of the skin effectively. Through the process of Cryolipolysis, the fat cells in the targeted area are frozen and crystallized, which will leave a more sculpted, contoured you! Your fat cells will literally be frozen away as the size of the cell is dramatically reduced, without causing any damage to your surrounding skin, muscle, nerves, and tissue. This non-invasive fat loss treatment takes approximately 1 hour per treatment area to complete, and 2-3 sessions are recommended to achieve the best results.
The first step of your CoolSculpting treatment will be the application of a cool, gel pad applied to the treatment site. You will feel suction from the hand-held piece and this will remain at the treatment area for the whole hour once it’s applied to the skin. In the first few minutes, you will feel pressure and an intense cold, which will dissipate shortly afterwards. During your treatment, you are free to read, work on a mobile device, or even take a nap! After the treatment, you’ll receive a brief massage over the area and you may experience slight numbness for a few days.
As a non-surgical fat loss treatment, you can resume your normal daily activities right after your procedure. Our patients will see undeniable results occurring in as little as 2-3 weeks after a single treatment. Typically, however, results will appear most substantially in 1-3 months following your treatment. This is because this is the amount of time it takes for your body to naturally dispose of the treated fat cells, and it will continue doing so for up to 6 months after your session.
As long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle, diet, and weight after your CoolSculpting procedure, results are permanent! The process of Cryolipolysis will freeze your fat cells, which ultimately die and are naturally eliminated by the body afterwards. This is why it may take several weeks for you to see the full effects of the treatment. Once the fat is frozen, it’s gone unless, of course, weight is gained after your session.
This non-invasive fat loss solution will allow you to return to your normal activities, including work, immediately after your treatment. For a few weeks, you may experience slight numbness in the area while fat is being eliminated from the body. You may also experience slight bruising in the treatment area, however it is more common for clients to experience redness and tenderness at the treatment site.
While some patients experience mild redness, bruising, numbness, or a tingling sensation in the treatment area after their CoolSculpting procedure, it will resolve on its own. Many of our patients are able to return to work on the same day as CoolSculpting is non-surgical and requires absolutely no down time.
It is important to remember that CoolSculpting is not a weight loss solution for patients who are obese. It can, however, be used as a non-surgical substitute for liposuction. The ideal candidate for the CoolSculpting procedure has noticeable bulges and fat deposits that can be pinched and pulled from the body, and are at or close to their ideal weight. During your first private consultation at McLean Clinic, we will be able to determine if this treatment is the best option for you.
