Refresh and rejuvenate your eye area with the latest in eye enhancement procedures at McLean Clinic.
Many of us complain of a tired appearance with visible bags and dark circles under our eyes. Fine lines (also known as crow’s feet) around our eyes can make us look older and more tired than we really are. Not everyone is a candidate for eyelid surgery, and not everyone wants to go through the hassle of incisions and periods of downtime after a surgical procedure. At McLean Clinic, we offer a non-surgical approach to eye rejuvenation to help you look well-rested, refreshed, and more youthful.
Eye Enhancement at McLean Clinic is a non-surgical treatment program that is individually tailored to meet your specific needs. During your free consultation, we will review your concerns and develop a solution that works for you. Our comprehensive approach uses the safest and most effective techniques and typically includes a combination of the following therapies:
Botox is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures completed around the world. The treatment is quick, painless, and simple– completed in minutes in the comfort and privacy of our office in Mississauga. Botox is a medically refined substance that relaxes the muscles responsible for causing lines, furrows or other unwanted appearances. It is injected with very fine needles and is commonly used to relax the muscles that cause lines (crow’s feet) around the eyes or frown lines between the eyebrows. It can also be injected in areas that surround the mouth to soften smoker’s lines. Botox is most commonly injected into areas with repeated muscle movement, meaning that some wrinkles that formed as a result of gravity or sun damage cannot be treated with Botox. Other injectable treatments, such as fillers, may be more suitable to address these concerns.
While it is considered relatively safe and effective, potential side effects of Botox can include bruising, swelling and localized pain at the injection site. In rare instances, an adjacent muscle may be affected resulting in an unwanted effect such as a drooping eyelid. Other serious adverse reactions such as difficulty swallowing are rarely reported and are listed in Botox’s official drug monograph.
Injectable fillers such as Juvederm are used to fill the hollows beneath the eyes, reducing the appearance of sagging eye bags. Injectable fillers used at McLean Clinic are composed of hyaluronic acid (HA) – a naturally occurring substance in our bodies that keeps our skin looking hydrated and plump. Hyaluronic acid has the incredible ability to hold 100x its own weight in water, which means that it will work to instantly soften wrinkles and lines, restore lost volume, and hydrate the skin in the deepest layers. It is one of the most highly recommended facial fillers in Canada and will provide you with great, lasting results.
Juvederm injections work not only on a short-term basis for anti-aging benefits but also on a long-term basis. The high content of hyaluronic acid in Juvederm will work to hydrate the many layers of the skin and as time goes on, the natural collagen production in the body will be stimulated at the injection sites. This will help the body continue to fight aging signs and help provide you with a youthful complexion that appears rested and rejuvenated.
Injections can be performed in as little as 30 minutes and most of our fillers now contain Lidocaine, reducing pain within seconds. Results are immediate and can last up to 9 to 12 months. Redness, swelling and/or discomfort can occur. Any bruising at the injection site usually disappears within 7 to 10 days.
ProFractional can be used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, especially those around the eyes and mouth. Unlike older resurfacing systems, Profractional emits a tiny laser beam that treats thousands of pinpoint areas of your skin. Downtime is reduced and the result is improved skin texture with less visible fine lines and wrinkles.
This laser beam will emit light that reaches the deepest layers of your skin and promotes the natural production of collagen, which will further aid in softening the appearance of lines and wrinkles. As a result, you will be left with a complexion that is smoother, tighter, even-toned, and more hydrated. Furthermore, ProFractional lasers can be used on people of all skin types and tones, unlike older laser resurfacing systems on the market.
While skin resurfacing procedures are considered safe when performed by a trained professional, there is a slight risk of scarring, discoloration of the skin, swelling and redness.
For the first few days following your initial treatment, your skin may be sensitive and tender to the touch, feeling similar to how a sunburn feels. The large majority of our patients are able to return to work and apply makeup within 1 week of their treatment. You will notice that your results will continue to improve over the course of several weeks due to the increased production of collagen in the skin. This means that you will continue to experience an ongoing improvement in your skin’s tightness and contour.
The Thermage Eye Procedure helps smooth and tighten skin in the eye area. It is a single, non-surgical treatment that uses radio frequency (RF) energy to lift and tighten the skin, while simultaneously boosting collagen production in the skin to provide long-term benefits. This will continue to enhance your skin’s tone and texture to provide you with a youthful, rejuvenated appearance.
Thermage is suitable for all skin types and colours and has little to no downtime. One of the major advantages of Thermage treatments is that your results will continue to improve gradually over the course of several weeks and months. The effects are both subtle yet noticeable, and no one will be able to detect that you had a cosmetic procedure done. The effects from the treatment will continue to improve for up to six months and can last for years.
Latisse® is a prescription eyelash product designed to grow your natural eyelashes. After 8 weeks of use, you will have longer, fuller and darker lashes. This safe and effective treatment works by prolonging the active growth phase of the eyelashes (also known as the anagen phase). Latisse® is applied once a day, ideally before bedtime. The most common side effects reported after using Latisse®are itching sensation in the eyes and redness. Darkening to the upper eyelid may also occur and is expected to be reversible if you stop using Latisse®.
Medical-Grade Skin Care is an essential part of any eye rejuvenation program. At McLean Clinic, we offer the latest and most effective prescription skin care lines such as Obagi’s Nu-Derm System and ZO Skin Health Care by Zein Obagi, MD. All our medical-grade skin care products emphasize cellular turnover and boost collagen formation. Skin is stronger and more resilient with fewer lines and wrinkles.
Following a daily skin care routine that includes products that prevent, protect, and correct will help your skin recover from past damage and slow the aging process moving forward. The medical skin care products carried at McLean Clinic are one of the best ways to supplement any of our cosmetic procedures carried out in-office as they will work to encourage cell turnover and boost collagen production on a long-term basis.
